Mom and Dad – Sept 2011

The summer for dad and I was absolutely wonderful. The highlight for both of us was being able to travel and visit with family. Dad loved his campout with Garry and many grandsons including Teague. While Judy and I had an absolute blast with Mariah in England. This trip however was very different as I was able to visit areas of England that I had never seen before. I loved the small villages but most of all the old churches, and their graveyards. It was the adventure of a lifetime. It was also a thrill to visit family some of which I did not think I would see again. The day before going to England we were called by the new stake presidency of the new Alpine Young Single Adult stake to be respectively high councilman and Relief Society mentor. It is like a mini mission as we visit and speak together to YSA wards of which there are 13 in our stake. We work closely with our local Highland Heritage Park YSA ward. The highlight to close our summer was a stake temple week during which we were able to go to the temple every day. I am excited now to begin some serious family history research, so be watching for opportunities to take names to the temple. I feel a great urgency to be busy in this work. My trip to England revitalized me in going forward with greater effort. Swiss days went well for Dad. And now he is making more flutes and looking forward to assembling a flute circle this winter. We are so grateful to our sweet Heidi for putting this together for us and look forward to anything and all you contribute. We love you, miss you, and hope to see you all soon. We will have Thanksgiving here and will contact you individually as plans are made. God bless you all!
